Lincoln Hills RV Group
Minutes of meeting of March 14, 2019
President Steve Beede called the meeting to order at 4:30PM.
He welcomed guests:
Doug and Jean Corby have just purchased an RV and are looking for company on trips.
Diana Graves and Michael Zassie are experienced RVers who are currently shopping for an RV.
Leroy and Rita Weighall just moved into Sun City four days ago, downsizing from a home in Red Bluff. They have a 24 ft.
RV and are shopping for a storage spot.
General Business:
Steve thanked all the members who helped with the Club Expo, which was very well attended. The impressive photo
boards, assembled by Jayne Clark, and the flyers about our club that were used for the Expo are available to members
for use in recruitment and publicity.
Steve reported that the board responded to a call for a 90 word or less description of our group and 3 photos that they
could choose one from for inclusion in the SCLH 20th anniversary book. The board noticed that many of the candid
photos we have in our collection include RVers who are not smiling but engaged in great activities. Please ask your
photo subjects to smile.
The minutes of the February meeting had been distributed by e-mail. Jim Clark made a motion to accept the minutes;
Coleman White seconded. The motion was passed.
The Treasurer’s Report had been distributed by e-mail. Julie Africa made a motion to accept it and Steve Honnoll
seconded. The motion passed.
Sunshine Committee Chairperson Renee Honnoll reported sending out a number of cards:
Marsha Richardson was sent a sympathy card on the death of her husband, Darrell Spencer.
June Mastor was sent a sympathy card on the death of her husband, John.
Dean Schumacher was sent a sympathy card on the death of his sister.
Mary Romo was sent a card; she is scheduled for surgery.
Many of our members are out on trips right now. Vice President Susan is on the road but she is still working on rallies
for 2020. She continues to find that RV parks are demanding full payment for group reservations when the reservations
are made. More and more, individual sites must be reserved for each rig.
Review of 2019 rallies:
The Arizona Rally was cold and wet. Many mornings had temperatures in the 30’s. There was at least one occasion
when people could gather around 2 firepits. But weather was unusually bad.
The rally to Solvang is starting a day early on Sunday for 6 of the 13 rigs signed up. They will stay in Coalinga before
going on to Solvang on Monday. Wagonmaster Margie Housley reported on the activities scheduled.
Vicki white reported on the 4/14-4/20 rally to Santa Cruz. Applications are open –there are 10 sites left. There are many
opportunities for enjoyable activities including golf, whalewatching, hiking, and a train ride. The area also boasts having
many delicious restaurants, beaches and a boardwalk. The Cowboy Grill is a recommended restaurant.
Right now, there is still no wagonmaster for the Yosemite rally in May so it will be cancelled. The Kleins cannot
volunteer but would love to attend and do whatever they can to help. The wet winter promises beautiful waterfalls and
foliage in the spring.
In June and July we have a 7 part trip scheduled with stops in Shasta, Rogue River, Bend, Sisters, Idaho, British Columbia
and Calgary. Members can choose to do any part(s) of the trip. Reservations are made by the individual rig rather than
for the group. If you have any questions, please contact President Beede.
In August a rally is planned in Graeagle. Watch for applications.
In September, a rally to Marina Dunes is scheduled. Wagonmasters are the Fagans and the Swansons. An application
will be out soon.
No one has stepped up to be wagonmaster of a rally that could begin on September 30th in Garberville. The redwoods in
the area are magnificent. Please contact V.P. Susan Brenden to volunteer.
The Skars will be wagonmasters of a rally Oct.7-11th in Escondido.
Steve asked about March birthdays and anniversaries. David Africa turns 75 on the 23rd. Coleman White turns 71 on
the 15th. Martha Chatoian turns 80 on the 18th. Sandi Cassieri celebrates her birthday on the 24th
.
Information Sharing:
The FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) has changed its policy to allow membership with towed vehicles as well as
motor coaches. Its tire program leads to great savings and membership includes road service. Membership fees are
lower than Good Sam’s.
The DMV has new regulations that require special licensing for operating non-commercial vehicles over 15,000 lbs.
Steve has available for circulation a lot of material on RVing in Alaska. We will also be scheduling an educational session
about it.
On a rally last year a new member decided to quit our group because rally attendants were all involved with each other
and he experienced us as unfriendly. We should make sure to do all we can to engage new members. New members
should consider signing on to be co-wagonmasters – it’s a great way to get to know other members.
Members are reminded to submit photos for display on the website.
At 5:15 PM Lenny Cassieri made a motion to adjourn. Betty Schumacher seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Appetizer sharing and socializing followed.
Respectfully submitted by Marge Klein for Secretary Marggi Holtze
