III. WELCOME GUESTS: No guests were present.

IV. MEMBERS PRESENT: 46 club members were present.

V. PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: The March 9, 2023 minutes were moved for
approval by Marlowe Skar, seconded by Steve Beede. Motion passed.

VI. REPORTS:
A. Treasurer’s Report (Maureen Williams): Maureen reported on the financials for March
that were recently posted to the website and sent to the membership. A motion to accept
the report was made by Bill Bisson and seconded by Terri Stubblefield. Motion passed.

B. Membership Report (Maggie Giuliani): Maggie discussed a request to put member
names on both sides of our club member tags. It would involve an additional charge to
do this. She suggested that everyone write their names on the reverse side so if the tag
gets reversed while wearing it, your name is still visible.

C. Social Chair Report (Vicki White): Vicki reviewed the plans for the Luau party
scheduled for May 13th – time 5:00 p.m. – location Sports Pavilion. The invitation will
be going out in a few days. Please submit your RSVP and payment to Vicki by the
deadline on the flyer. The meal will be catered. A bar will also be in place, minimum
charge is $400 for the group so be sure to place your orders for refreshments. Music will
be provided by Steve Beede.

Vicki asked for volunteers to coordinate the Holiday Dinner and Dance. Mary Carbrey,
Cindy Aimar, and Tari Briscoe volunteered to coordinate the event.

D. Sunshine Report (Cindy Keller): Mary Romo reported that Cindy Keller has volunteered
for this position which is greatly appreciated. She can be contacted at [email protected]
or by phone (808) 938-0848. Cindy was not able to attend this meeting. Mary stated that
she has sent out some recent cards for club members.

E. Historian Report (Ron Darville): Ron Darville clarified that pictures should be sent
to him in JPEG or TIF formats. Please send pictures to him to add to the picture boards
he prepares. Mary Romo encouraged members to submit photos so that anyone looking at our website can see how much fun our group has on rallies! Robyn Kain also requested pictures that she could add to the website.

VII. VICE PRESIDENT REPORT (Cara Roberts/Roy Deeble): Cara asked each wagon
master to provide a brief description of their rally.

RALLIES FOR 2023 (see attachment):
A. March 31 – April 3: Robyn Kain gave a report on this recently completed rally held in
Lodi. The main group activity was attending the Lodi Wine Festival; it was a lot of fun
with many vendors serving wine, food, and items for sale. A sausage fest was served for
the group with locally made sausages coming from the Lockeford Sausage and Meat
Company – they were delicious! The next day the group visited the Micke Grove Park in
Lodi where the San Juan Historical Museum is located with several buildings exhibiting
all kinds of historical displays showing the evolution of the area. There were exhibits of
the founding families, winemaking, agriculture, vintage vehicles, etc. This was a great
way to spend the day that was enjoyed by all.

B. April 3rd – April 7th: Sharon Skar reported on the Plymouth rally that followed the Lodi
rally. There were many activities including golf, dinner out, wine tasting and exploring
the area. The highlight was the tour of the Preston “Castle” in Ione which began as the
Preston School of Industry, a reformatory for boys and young men from the 1890’s to
1955. Those with a criminal past had formerly been housed at San Quentin Prison and
this facility was created in order to get boys and young men out of the prison system.
They were able to acquire skills in three trades and earn a high school diploma. The
facility is very large, 4 stories made of brick and stone, an imposing sight. There is a
foundation dedicated to raising money in order to continue renovating the facilities.

C. June 11 – 16: Rally to be held at Black Oaks Casino RV Park in Tuolumne, CA. The
Wagon masters are Craig and Mary Carbrey; the assistants are Lenny and Lana Venturi.
Mary and Craig visited the park after the Plymouth rally and were very impressed with
the facility, has many nice amenities that we will like. She is working on finalizing the
itinerary for the activities. You can take a bus from the resort to Yosemite and catch a
guided tour in the park; it would be a day long activity but well worth it if you have never
been to Yosemite. Other activities include golf at Telleli Golf Course, visiting Calvaras
Big Tree Park, and hiking the Dragon Gulch Trail, and other activities.

D. July 16 - 21: Rally to be held at Diamond Lake Resort RV Park in Diamond Lake,
Oregon. This is near Crater Lake. Wagon masters are Steve and Ann Beede, assistants
are Steve and Patty Holderfield. Diamond Lake is a very pretty location with all types of
boating activities including kayacks and stand up boards, fishing is also available. The
rally is full right now but Steve encouraged others interested to contact him to be put on
the wait list.

E. July 21 - 26: Rally to be held in at the Klamath Ranch Resort/Blue Heron RV Park in
Oregon. Wagon masters are Steve and Ann Beede, assistants are Al and Maggie
Giuliani. Steve indicated this is also a very nice site for the rally about 40 miles from the
Diamond Lake rally held just prior to this rally. Rally activities are in the planning stage.
Four sites are available to be reserved.

F. September 22 – 26: Rally to be held at the Gilroy Garlic USA RV Park. Primary
Wagon master is Bill and Cheryl Bisson, assistants are Cara and Eric Roberts. The Casa
de Fruita Renaissance Fair is expected to be the main attraction however the fair has not
yet posted their dates. In the event the fair is not scheduled during our time there, other
activities could include visiting Pinnacles National Park, Mission San Juan Batista
(guided tour possible), wine tasting, garden parks, as well as shopping at the Gilroy
Outlets. Spots are open for this rally. An updated application will be sent out.

G. September 26th to October 1st: Rally to be held at Moss Landing KOA Park in Moss
Landing, CA. Primary Wagon masters are Cara and Eric Roberts. The rally site is
located right next to the ocean and is a really great location. Cara will be investigating
whether storm damage has impacted the RV park. The deadline to sign up is March 15th
– sign up now as spots are filling up.

H. November 12 -17th: Newport Dunes RV Resort at Newport Beach. The Wagon masters
are Roy Deeble and Elena Shroyer; the assistants are Al and Maggie Giuliani. This a
nice older park that Roy has stayed at many times, located along a bay next to the Pacific
Ocean. There is much to do at this location. Roy encouraged those with bikes to be sure
to bring them as there are very nice bike trails. This time of year is very nice as well as it
is not nearly as crowded as in the summer months. Roy is looking into a day trip over to
Catalina Island. We need to book a minimum of 10 sites to keep our reduced rate at
$56/night, which is well less than the normal $80+ typical rate.

I. December 28, 2023 – January 3, 2024. This rally will be held at Bonelli Bluffs RV
Resort in San Dimas, CA. The highlight of this trip is the Tournament of Roses parade
held in Pasadena. Nine rigs are signed up and there is room for more. The RV resort is
a large facility that is the host site for many RV tour company packages for the
Tournament of Roses event. Several pre-parade activities such as seeing the horses, the
bands, and the floats have been arranged along with grandstand tickets for the parade.
There are no cancellation penalties at the RV park as this event is so popular there is no
concern that the park will not be able to fill up all spots. Additionally, some members of
the group are also looking to go to Borrego Springs following this rally.

J. September 20, 2024 – October 11, 2024. The highlight of this rally will be attending
the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. The wagon masters are Patty and Steve Holderfield,
assistants are Ron and Linda Hartman. The rally is planned to leave on September 20,
2024 and travel through Zion, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon National Parks
before arriving for the balloon festival. The rally is full with 11 rigs already signed up. If
more are interested, a second group can be organized.

K. 2024 Rally Ideas. Rally destinations were discussed including Palm Desert to Lake
Havasu – Cara would appreciate tips on RV parks along the way. The Rivers Edge at
Clio (Graeagle) was discussed as a September destination.

VIII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. AED/CPR: Mary Romo found out recently that the next class for April 25th
still has openings that you can sign up for. The cost is just $15. The next scheduled session
will be on May 10th.  Be sure to sign up right away on the Sun City website as the classes tend to fill up.

B. New Resident Orientation. The RV Group was one of the tables for new residents to
visit after the orientation was held. There wasn’t very good attendance compared to
prior years. Mary indicated she did not plan to submit an application for next year.

C. 2023 Club Expo: The Sun City Club Expo was on March 21, 2023 featuring various
clubs within Sun City. We had planned to have several rigs in the parking lot for
visitors to tour. However, it was cancelled due to rain. We will plan on this again for
next year. The event was well attended and many people visited our table.

D. Website/Group Emails: Robyn Kain reported on the progress of updating the club
website. More features of the website have been recently updated including a new
club newsletter, posting of agendas, minutes, and treasurer reports. She will start
working on getting photos posted of the recent rallies.

IX. NEW BUSINESS
A. Mary will be preparing an email to go to those attending the recent rallies to
gather recipe requests. There were several very good dishes prepared for the pot
lucks and people were asking for the recipes. We may look at creating a recipe
book.

X. CELEBRATIONS: None.

XI. OPEN COMMENTS: Howard Stubblefield passed out a flier for Sacramento Valley RV
located next to the Lincoln Airport. He recently found out that they have indoor rig
storage available. The rate information was given to Robyn and she will be sending it out
shortly to the group.

Howard also mentioned that he had a mobile RV detailing company come to his home to
clean and detail his rig, including a full wash and application of wax to the entire rig.
They use good quality products and he was very happy with their work. The company is
Ace Mobile Detailing.

Mary Romo also passed out a flier prepared by Steve Beede on getting your RV rig out of
storage and ready for spring and summer travel. It contains a detailed list of items to
check on and get ready for use.

XII. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Al Giuliani, seconded by Janet Phillips, to
adjourn the meeting.
