Assistant to Ron Lunsford. She will be helping Ron as needed.
b. Distribute Updated Rally Spreadsheet : Ron Lunsford brought the
updated rally spreadsheet for everyone to take with them.
c. Report on Upcoming Rallies:
i. Mountain Gate RV Park, Redding. April 18 – 23. Wagon
Master Ron Lunsford, Co-Wagon Master Mary and Craig Carbrey.
There are 13 sites taken and 6 sites are still available. Plans include
exploring the Shasta Lake Caverns, a tour of Shasta Dam, hiking to
Hedge Falls, boat ride to the Shasta cavers and the Red Bluff Rodeo
Round Up.
ii. Flying Flags RV Resort, Buellton/Solvang. May 13 – May
17th. Wagon Masters Robyn Kain & Janet Phillips. Robyn reported
that the resort was very accommodating regarding the lower than
expected site signups vs. what was contracted for. The pricing will
remain the same. She will be sending out an update on the rally in
the near future. The itinerary is being developed but ideas include
the motorcycle museum, ostrich farm, and history museums.
iii. Coachland RV Park, Truckee. June 20 – 24. Wagon Masters
are Jake Baker and Frank Mason. The rally has 16 signups so far,
and more spaces are available. Jake reported activities including a
day train trip from Carson City to Virginia City; touring the
Thunderbird House, golfing and hiking.
iv. Bodega Bay RV Park, Bodega Bay. July 8 -12. Wagon Master
Roy Deeble. The rally has been full and one person is on the
waitlist. He just had a cancellation and will follow up with the
waitlist to see if they are still interested. He is working on activities
and plan to have lots of games for everyone to play. Should be
cooler weather there during the summer.
v. Jackson Rancheria RV Park, Jackson. September 8 – 13.
Wagon Master Betty Schumacher. Betty and the assistant wagon
masters, Tari and Jack Briscoe, will be going to the site soon to
check on the status of the park. Construction is underway to
expand the park, thus the club room will not be available, but the
pool and dog park are supposed to be open during the rally. There
are 21 sites with 4 spots still open.
vi. Balloon Festival, Albuquerque, NM. September 20 –
October 10. Wagon Master Patty Holderfield. The rally is full with
14 rigs. RV park reservations have been secured. The rally will go
through Bryce – Zion – Grand Canyon National Parks before
arriving at the Balloon Festival site. Half of the group got into the
Balloon grounds and the other half are still at the backup RV park.
Those who tried to get into the festival parking lot are on a wait
list.
vii. Feather Falls RV Park, Oroville; November 3 – 8. Ron
reported that Vicky and Coleman White have volunteered to be
the Wagon Masters for this rally. Information will be coming from
them soon. Twenty sites are available.
d. Support for Wagon Masters: Ron led a discussion about the
resources available for Wagon Masters. There are many club
members who have been wagon masters before that are an
available resource. Members can pair up with an experienced
wagon master as an assistant to get experience. The website also
has documents for webmasters with sample forms and guidelines
on how to plan a rally. So if you are interested in leading a rally,
just ask for any help that you need.
e. Ideas for Additional Rallies: The 2024 rally planning is finished.
Ron likes to have a rally planned for each month so that we get a
chance to use our rigs, which did not come cheaply, so best to get
full use out of them. Ron will send out a list of rally locations that
are close by, those that are further away, and see where everyone
is interested in going in 2025.
10. Unfinished Business (Jake Baker): None
11. New Business (Jake Baker)
a. Lifestyle Expo: Mary Carbrey volunteered to coordinate the Club’s
involvement in the Expo scheduled for March 2025. Last year, the
Club wanted to park some of our rigs for people to tour, and to set
up an area as though we were camping; however, we were rained
out. Mary took names of those willing to volunteer their rigs for
2025 and will be following up.
b. Reduction of Surplus Cash: As was mentioned at the last meeting,
the Club is holding quite a bit of cash reserves. These were
developed over the years as cash reserves have been needed to
pay for rally RV park reservations which typically could involve a
payment of $1500 or more. But RV parks seem to be more
interested now in having individual rally participants make and pay
for their own sites, rather than as a group rally. The Board has
determined that the cash reserves could be reduced by $2500 at
this time and still leave sufficient cash reserves for club operations.
It is desired to share the excess reserves in a way that benefits as
many club members as evenly as possible. The Board proposed
that 2024 members will have their membership renewal fee for
2025 waived; the remaining funds will be used to offset the
Holiday Party in December, as we have a large turnout for that
event. Jake asked for input from the group, and the majority was in
favor of this approach.
Questions were raised about the Holiday Party and the need to
request donations for our party; whether the club should raise
money themselves such as with a 50-50 rally; whether to continue
with a DJ for music or a band instead. Jake stated that the board
would discuss those issues when they meet again.
12. Open Comments (All)
a. Robyn Kain mentioned that she got an email from Jerry Ingram,
who could not be at the meeting, that he wanted to share a local
mobile RV technician based in Newcastle. The technician is
Anthony of Mobile RV Repairs, his phone number is 916-470-0904.
b. Ron Hartman mentioned that he recently found out his AED
certificate had expired, so everyone should check their certificates,
as they expire after 2 years. In order to check out an AED for a
rally, a valid certificate is required of the person checking it out.
c. Linda Heiner reported a very positive experience with Radial Tire
of Elk Grove. Their pricing for replacement of Class A tires was
very reasonable compared to other retail shops; they saved over
$1200 and were very well treated by the employees. Other ways
to save mentioned include the FMCA club discount, Winnebago
club also has a discount. Other positive mentions were given to
services provided by local RV storage locations such as 24 Hour RV
Storage.
d. Robyn requested that members give her the information of
recommended vendors so that she can add them to the vendor
page on the website.
13. Adjournment: A motion was made by Ron Hartman to adjourn the
meeting, seconded by Dean Schumacher. Meeting adjourned at 5:20
p.m.
