question was raised on the spelling of names on the website and it was recommended that members contact Ron for any name corrections.

  • Social Chair Report (Vicki White): Vicki advised that a Luau themed party is tentatively planned for May of 2023. She also noted that the Holiday Party will be held at Sun City Orchard Lodge on December 4th.
  • VICE PRESIDENT REPORT (Vicki White). Vicki noted that Wagon Masters will be needed now that the rallies for 2023 have been identified.

PROJECTED RALLIES FOR 2023: Vicki presented a white board showing all the 2023 rallies with dates and locations.

Robyn Kain and Janet Phillips have volunteered to be Wagon Masters but since this is their first time, they are looking for a co-wagon master to assist them.
  3. June 11 – 16: Rally to be held at Black Oaks Casino RV Park in Tuolumne, CA. The Carberry’s will be assistant Wagon Masters, club members were asked to volunteer who have been a wagon master before.
  4. July 16 -21: Rally to be held at Diamond Lake, Oregon.
  5. July 21 -27: Rally to be held in Ashland, Oregon.

  • September 25th to October 1st: Rally to be held at Moss Landing KOA Park.

Vick1 also mentioned that she was looking into a rally at Sedona for 2024. Maggie Giulani will research the Reno Air Balloon festival as a rally. Roy Deeble will research a rally for January and February in the desert areas, and maybe add in Lake Elsinore. If it is too late for 2023, he will look at 2024 instead. It was mentioned that the group had gone to Newport Beach and the dunes before, is a good spot for a winter rally, you can rent boats and cruise the bay there.

Steve Beede suggested that if anyone has rally ideas, that you communicate them to Vicki. Survey sheets were on the tables to gather rally ideas as well. Vicki emphasized it was important to get ideas from everyone instead of relying on just one person for ideas.

  • RALLIES FOR 2022.

A.         September 10th – 27th, Olympic National Park in Washington. Wagon Masters: Marlowe & Sharon Skar and Mike & Mary Romo.

Report from Wagon Masters: Sharon Skar reported 12 rigs participated in the rally. It

was a long road trip when adding in the time to return home.  The group had a really good time. The wagon masters were congratulated for the rally planning which made it a success. There were some nights where Steve Beede entertained the group in the evenings with guitar songs and singing. After the rally, some of the group went on to Leavenworth, Rufus, and Sisters for more camping. Mary Romo reviewed the cranberry auto tour while at Westport WA; the cranberry bogs are nothing like what they show on TV! Steve Beede reviewed the side trip to Victoria, CA and noted that since he had been to Victoria before, they went a 100 miles away from there to spend the night and explored a goat farm, found an on the water floating pub with a water transport. Other rally members mentioned that the Butchart Gardens were simply amazing. Robyn Kain reviewed the whale watching trip which was especially notable as the Coast Guard was in the process of escorting a full size submarine into the Coast Guard station, and the whale boat was too close, which prompted the Coast Guard to chase them down with lights and sirens, wanting them to move faster, but the Captain explained he was going as fast as he could!

  • October 16th – 20th, Jackson Rancheria. Wagon Masters: Dean & Betty Schumacher and Roy Deeble & Elena Shroyer

Status from Wagon Masters: Betty Schumacher reported on the planned activities which include a hot dog night on Sunday. Other activities include exploring on your own to nearby towns such as Angeles Camp, Murphys, etc. A golf outing is also scheduled, and there are shopping opportunities around the area. There will also be a BBQ Burn Your Own Meat as well. There is a bus to the casino. Note that the RV park is north of the casino, not at the casino, so check your directions carefully. There is a pool and two hot tubs at the resort as well.

  • November 9 – 14: Although not a rally for our club, it was shared that there is a pickle ball rally being held at Indian Waters RV Resort in Indian Wells. The national pickle ball championship is being held in the area. Some members of the club are attending with RV’s and some are renting homes. If interested, contact Cara Roberts at (925) 330- 9397.
  1. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
  1. The CPR/AED class has been rescheduled to October 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m . Several club members will be gone to the Jackson Rancheria rally so will not be able to attend. However, another session will be scheduled for November which will be in the Compass magazine. Mary mentioned that SCLH is now requiring that for a person to check out the AED for our rallies, the person picking it up has to show evidence of being current on their CPR/AED certification. Sign up is done online at the Sun City website.
  • Revising the Wagon Master Duties. Mary Romo asked everyone to review the duties and giver your suggestions to Sharon Skar.       Her email is [email protected].
  • NEW BUSINESS – Mary Romo reviewed that some positions need to be filled for 2024. Sharon Skar has termed out as the Membership Chair but Maggie Giulani has

offered to take on this position for next year. One Vice President positions need to be filled; Cara Roberts will remain as one of the Vice Presidents. Vicki mentioned that this position is great for learning about your state and nearby states as you engage in planning rally trips. Roy Deeble agreed to be a Vice President for 2024.

Elections will be held at the next club meeting in November as per our By-laws.

  • OPEN COMMENTS – Betty Schumacher mentioned that there is space available for rent at the Del Rio Storage in Rocklin, and also at 24 Hour Indoor storage where they rented a space for their boat. She was wondering if the rising gas prices is resulting in persons getting rid of their rigs/boats and freeing up spaces at storage yards.

Al Giulani thanked Robyn Kain for the RV Storage Facility Survey that she completed. He reviewed the discounts available for 24 Hour Indoor Storage. If you pay a year in advance with cash/check, they also hold your rate at the prior year level.

Marggi Holthze mentioned that she is selling their Class C RV after 10 years of use. It has a solar system that charges the onboard batteries. It is an Itasca Spirit, 24 ½ feet in size. Call her if interested. It is in good shape and can be available for a good price.

Presentation – Robyn Kain reviewed the RV Life app which she uses for trip planning and GPS route planning. The app has over 20,000 camp sites on its map. You can download routes and maps to your phone so that if you do not have internet service, you have the map and route on your phone directly. You put in your rigs specific information such as size, type, weight, length, height, etc. in order for the app to customize a RV safe route for your destination. You can specify route preferences such as avoiding tolls, highways, tunnels, unpaved roads, etc. The speed that you wish to travel at, such as 55 mph, can be inputted as well for route calculations. The app is also linked to many RV manufacturer websites such as Forest River or Air stream to name a couple. A 7 day trial is available for free, a paid version is $59 a year. Robyn finds that the route time calculations are generally accurate, which is a good tool for designing your next camping spot so you are not too far way from one stop to the next. She also runs other apps concurrently such as iExit or Google Maps while traveling. Another club member noted that Good Sam also has a printed book of camping spots as well.

  • ADJOURNMENT – A motion was made by Marlow Skar, seconded by Mike Romo, to adjourn the meeting at 5:42.
