MINUTES
1. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by President Romo at 4:36 p.m. A
total of 50 persons were present for this meeting.
2. Introduction of New Members/Guests: New members Mark and Robyn
Matthewson were present. They moved to SCLH in September 2022 from Rio
Vista; they have a 22’ Cherokee rig. Two guests, Helen and Jerry Steinman were
attending as they are interested in acquiring a RV rig and are thinking of renting
first to get more familiar with RV rigs.
3. Approval of Minutes: The minutes for the May 11, 2023 meeting were moved
for approval by Marlow Skar, seconded by Lana Venturi; motion was passed.
4. Treasurer’s Report: Maureen Williams summarized the monthly reports. A
motion was made by Bill Bisson, seconded by Ron Hartman to approve the
reports; motion was passed.
5. Membership Report: Maggie Giuliani reported there are now 59 household
members. New members are John and Nancy Stevens, and Mark and Robyn
Matthewson.
6. Sunshine Report: No new report; please contact Cindy Keller at
[email protected] if a card should be sent to someone.
7. Historian Report: Ron Darville brought a picture display of the Luau party that
looked awesome! Appreciation was extended to Ron by the club members.
8. Social Chair Report: Vicki White
a. May 13th Luau Party – Vicki reported that the party was fun for everyone.
She thanked all her assistants for helping to make the event so successful.
b. Holiday Party – Mary Carbrey stated that the party will be December 14,
2023 at Turkey Creek golf course. Music will be provided by Steve Evans
with the cost covered by Stanley at First Reverse Mortgage company. The
party will start at 5 p.m.
9. Vice President Report for Rallies: Cara Roberts & Roy Deeble
a. Report on Upcoming 2023 Rallies
i. Black Oak Casino rally will be next week June 11 -16; Mary and Craig
Carbrey are the wagon masters assisted by Lenny and Lana Venturi;
the rally is full with 20 rigs. Mary reviewed the activities which
include group tours, potlucks, cook out, and burger night; a golf day is
planned as well.
ii. Diamond Lake Resort RV park scheduled for 7/16 – 21. Wagon
Masters are Steve and Ann Beede, assistant WM are Steve and Patty
Holderfield. Steve reported on activities which include square
dancing coordinated by Tom Bolton – contact him if you want to be
included. Numerous other activities include lake rentals for party
boats, kayacks, etc. There will be a day trip to Crater Lake. 19 rigs are
signed up.
iii. Klamath Ranch Resort rally scheduled for July 21 – 26 immediately
following Diamond Lake. Wagon Masters are Steve and Ann Beede.
The rally is located in Hornbrook, CA south of Ashland. An itinerary
will be sent out soon, events include pot lucks, square dancing.
There is an area where wild horses live nearby.
iv. Gilroy Garlic USA RV Park rally will be held September 22 – 26th in
Gilroy. Wagon masters are Bill and Cheryl Bisson assisted by Cara and
Eric Roberts. Sharon reported that it does appear that the
Rennaisance Festival will be held during our time there, she will keep
checking for more information. Other activities could include
Pinnacles National Park, Mission San Juan Batista, local shopping, etc.
The rally application will be sent out again, need to sign up by August
26th.
v. Moss Landing KOA in Moss Landing, CA will be held Sept. 26 – Oct.
1st. Wagon Masters are Cara and Eric Roberts; no report at this
meeting. The rally immediately follows the Gilroy rally.
vi. Newport Dunes RV Resort rally will be held November 12 – 17th at the
Newport Harbor near Balboa Island. Plans are still being developed
but include bike riding, hikes and walks; pot luck and games; a day
trip to Catalina Island on a ferry – there is much to see and do there
including an island tour to see the bisons, zip line, golf cart rentals to
tour the island, Botantical garden tour, etc. Will be sending out the
rally application again, 11 rigs are signed up, room for 5 more rigs.
You can arrive early or stay late if space is still available at the same
rate.
vii. Tournament of Roses Parade at Bonelli Bluffs RV Resort in San Dimas,
CA. Rally dates are December 28, 2023 – January 3, 2024. Wagon
masters are Steve and Ann Beede. There are spots still open, contact
Steve Beede for information. Featured activities will include the
Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena.
b. Report on Proposed 2024 Rallies – Roy Deeble reported on the proposed
2024 rallies:
i. Catalina SPA RV Resort in Desert Hot Springs, February 8th – 15th.
Wagon Masters are Cara and Eric Roberts.
ii. Petaluma KOA, March 11 – 15th. No wagon master yet, dates have
not been reserved yet.
iii. Mountain Gate RV Park, Redding, CA, April 15 – 19. No wagon master
yet, dates have not been reserved yet.
iv. Flying Flags RV Resort at Buellton/Solvang, May 13 – 17. Wagon
masters are Robyn Kain and Janet Phillips, assisted by Mary and Mike
Romo. Reservation is in progress along with identifying stays for the
way there and back. In the event Robyn and Janet are not available
for the rally (they might be in Europe), then Leland and Linda Heiner
have volunteered to be co-wagon masters with the Romo’s.
v. Clio/Greagle rally, June 16 – 21, was reported by Frank Mason. He
went to the RV park in Clio which many club members have been to
before. He also checked out an RV resort in Quincy which he is
recommending instead as they have more amenities including a club
house. The group was interested in this location. Roy will follow with
the RV park in Quincy.
vi. Bodega Bay RV Park, July 8 -12. Wagon Masters will be Roy Deeble
and Elena Schroyer, assisted by Marilyn Koregelos. There are 20 sites
reserved, can also arrive early or leave later.
vii. Five Stops road trip through Carson City, Lee Vining, Mono Lake, June
Lake. Dates are not set yet, proposed for August, need wagon
master.
viii. Jackson Rancheria RV Park, September 8 – 13. Twenty sites have
been reserved, no club house available. Betty Shumaker volunteered
to lead the rally.
ix. Balloon Festival, Albuquerque, NM September 20 – October 10th.
Wagon masters are Steve and Patty Holderfield assisted by Ron and
Linda Hartman. The trip will include 12 park stays, 15 rigs signed up.
Locations include Utah, Bryce Canyon, Zion Park, Lake Powell, Grand
Canyon, and the balloon festival, then heading home. It can be
difficult to get into the balloon festival RV site so a backup RV Park is
being arranged.
x. Sugar Barge RV Resort, Bethel Island, October 14 – 18th. No wagon
master yet, dates not reserved.
10. Unfinished Business
a. AED/CPR Classes – Mary reminded everyone to check the SCLH website for
future classes, it is an important class all should sign up for. Learning how
to use the AED is very simple.
11. New Business - None
12. Open Comments – The Holderfield’s reported that they have a new to them rig,
a Grand Design Reflection 5th wheel, congratulations were extended.
13. Adjournment – meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
