MINUTES

1. Call to Order (Jake Baker) – Meeting was called to order at 4:32 p.m. There were 43 members and 3 guests present.

2. Welcome Guests (Jake Baker) – Steve and Debra Romeo introduced themselves as soon to be residents of SCLH. They have purchased a home and are waiting for renovations to be completed before moving in. They are long time RV’ers and have a fifth wheel. Blue Kim was also introduced, and although she does not have a rig, she was curious about the group and was invited to come to a meeting.

3. Membership Report (Tari Briscoe) – Tari reported that there are a total of 115 club members. No new members to report.

4. Approve Minutes of October 10, 2024 (Jake Baker) - a motion was made by Al Giugliani, seconded by Mary Romo, to approve the minutes. Motion passed.

5. Approve Treasurer’s Reports of October 2024 (Jake Baker) - a motion was made by Ron Hartman, seconded by Mike Romo, to approve the Treasurer’s reports. Motion passed.

6. Sunshine Report (Cindy Keller) – It was reported that Leland Heiner had a visit to the hospital but is home recovering now. Aymura Myers had knee surgery recently and is home now. Marilee Swanson is also now at home recovering from her surgery. Jack Briscoe continues his recovery at home. Cards will be sent to all if not already sent.

7. Historian Report (Mary Romo) – Mary gave a history on how the “5th wheel” term developed over time. Originally, there was a “fifth wheel” on old carriages that allowed for front axle pivoting. Today, it isn’t another tire; it’s a coupling device shaped like a “U” at the back of the towing vehicle that connects to the trailer. Mary also reminded club members to send pictures for the website to her or Robyn so that they can get posted.

8. Social Chair Report (Diane Bergeron) – Diane gave an update on the upcoming Holiday Party. It will begin at 5:00 p.m. on December 12th at Turkey Creek Golf Club. All arrangements have been made for the dinner, music, vendor sponsors, decorations, etc. The per person cost is $48. The invitation will go out very soon to club members; she is asking the members to respond by December 1st. After this date, the invitation will be sent to former members provided space is still available.

9. Vice President Report for Rallies (Ron Lunsford) – Ron asked the wagon masters to report on the recent rallies to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival and Oroville Rally.

a. Patty Holderfield reported on the success of the Albuquerque rally that crossed five states, 4 national parks, over 9 separate locations, and ending at the Balloon Festival. Everyone had a great time and supported each other as mishaps or breakdowns occurred along the way. The ATV ride in Maryvale UT was fun but a bit confusing at it ended in an adjacent town that caused everyone to be a bit late in returning the ATV’s. It was a fun trip for all. Cyndy Mason gave a complimentary review of Patty’s organization of the trip, the binder organizing every stop along the way, the regular communications by group text of where they were going next, route recommendations and weather condition updates. The rally group congratulated Patty on a job very well done.

b. Vicki White reported on the Oroville rally that was well attended. It was nice to have a rally location only 1 ½ hours away, it made for a relaxing trip. The group went to Oroville Dam and the fish hatchery with docent guided tours. They also had several docent guided museum tours – Chinese, tools, and local history – and learned quite a bit. There was a nice club house at the KOA at the Feather Falls Casino where the group stayed; the KOA staff were very welcoming with a large group poster and making pancakes one morning for the group.

c. Ron Lunsford reviewed the interest boards for the 2025 proposed rallies and asked for wagon masters to sign up for the rallies. There is quite an interest in each rally so far. Several rallies are open for sign ups now – Grass Valley (April), Arcata (May), Minden, NV (June), and Lake Siskiyou (August), Other rallies include Desert Hot Springs (March), Chico (May), Pismo (September), and Vacaville (October). The 2025 rallies are listed on the website as well. Rally applications will be sent out by the wagon masters. He also requested ideas for the 2026 rallies to be sent to him.

10. Unfinished Business (Jake Baker)
a. Update on AED Certification – Cyndy Mason has been coordinating with Rex at SCLH on setting an AED certification class for January 9th at 9:00 a.m. in the Multi-purpose room at Orchard. Participants need to register in advance at either sports center and pay $15. This is a reduced fee which makes the class very affordable. Everyone was reminded to check their certification to see if it is expiring and to sign up for a class. Class size is limited to 12; if need be, a second class can be arranged.

b. The review of the Operating Procedures and Policies is ongoing, aiming to have revisions for the January meeting for review.

She is asking for RV items that can be used in the display such as small RV’s or trailers, rally pictures, and related items. The new hat will be included. The display will be on view for the month of April 2025.

12. Open Comments (All)
